We handle your personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 of Singapore (“PDPA”) and the regulations enacted under it (as may be amended from time to time).
[The Data Protection Officer for Vet Central can be contacted firstname.lastname@example.org.The PDPA requires each organisation to designate one or more individuals to be responsible for ensuring that the organisation complies with the PDPA. This individual is typically referred to as a Data Protection Officer (the “DPO”). The DPO should ideally be a member of the organisation’s senior management team or have a direct reporting line to the senior management and should be trained and certified (please refer to the PDPC website for details on how to undergo training). Each organisation is also required to make available the business contact information of at least one individual designated by the organisation who should also be able answer questions in relation to the organisation’s collection, use and disclosure of personal data – this person is usually the DPO. As such, we have provided for the same here
Collection, Use and Disclosure of Personal Data
Collection of General Information
As the operator of the Website, we collect non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request.
We collect this information to better understand how visitors use the Website and to help us troubleshoot problems, analyse our resources and improve our services and/or products.
Collection of Personal Information
We collect personal information in a number of ways, including:
In each case, we collect your personal information only to the extent necessary or appropriate to fulfil the purpose of your interaction or transaction with us.
Consent:To note that in certain transactions, the individual will be deemed under law to have provided his/her consent to the collection, use and disclosure of his/her personal data (i.e. Vet Central does not strictly need to actively obtain the individual’s express consent for those transactions). These include deemed consent by conduct where the individual voluntarily provides his personal data to Vet Central for purposes that are objectively obvious and reasonably appropriate from the surrounding circumstances (e.g. provision of credit card data to make payment) and deemed consent by contractual necessity where Vet Central (i.e. as initial recipient of the personal data) has to disclose the personal data to another downstream organisation where such disclosure (and collection) is reasonably necessary to fulfil the contract between the individual and the Vet Central (e.g. credit card data being disclosed by Vet Central to its bank). However, in view that there are limited circumstances only where deemed consent applies, the better approach would be to still obtain express consent from the individuals for the collection, use and disclosure of their personal data for the various purposes required by Vet Central.
Purpose:Please review the list of purposes for which personal data may be collected, retained, used, transferred or disclosed by Vet Central and amend as necessary. It is important to make this list as comprehensive and wide as possible to ensure that all present and future / potential purposes are captured, so as to avoid needing to go back to the individual to obtain consent again in the future (e.g. if the list was not comprehensive enough and a new purpose arose from which Vet Central needs to collect person information but was not covered under the original list.
Disclosure of Your Personal Information
We may disclose your personal information to other entities or individuals for the Purposes including but not limited to:
Access to and Correction of Personal Data:Under the PDPA, an organisation must, upon request by an individual, provide the individual with the following as soon as reasonably possible: a) personal data about the individual that is in the possession or under the control of the organisation; and b) information about the ways in which that personal data has been or may have been used or disclosed by the organisation within a year before the date of the individual’s request.
In addition, an individual may submit a request for an organisation to correct an error or omission in the individual’s personal data that is in the possession or under the control of the organisation (a “correction request”). Unless the organisation is satisfied on reasonable grounds that the correction should not be made, it should – a) correct the personal data as soon as practicable; and b) send the corrected personal data to every other organisation to which the personal data was disclosed by the organisation within a year before the date the correction request was made, unless that other organisation does not need the corrected personal data for any legal or business purpose. The provisions in this section are to inform users of how to access and correct their personal data
